Raj Kapoor, one of the biggest stars of the decade following India's independence, started his own production company, R.K. Films, in 1948, and Barsaat was the studio's second film and its first success. The movie poster for Barsaat—which shows Kapoor holding his famous leading lady Nargis in his arms—became the iconic image of the studio. Barsaat exemplifies Kapoor's filmmaking in its focus on social barriers to love and its sexualization of women.

Chitchor (1976) is a Hindi romantic musical film. The film is a Rajshri Productions film produced by Tarachand Barjatya.
The film was later remade in Telugu as Ammayi Manasu (1981) starring Jayasudha and remade in Tamil as Ullamkavar Kalvan starring Pandiyarajan and Reka, and it again remade in a Bengali film Sedin Chaitramash produced by New CineVision, starring Indrani Dutta, Chiranjit, Sanjeev as the leads. The main concept was reflected in 2003 hindi film Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon having Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Avishek Bachchan in the lead.

Jab Jab Phool Khile is a 1965 Indian Hindi movie. It stars Shashi Kapoor and Nanda. The story is of a poor boy who is a boatman in Kashmir, and falls in love with a rich tourist.

The film became a "blockbuster" at the box office. The songs by music composing duo Kalyanji Anandji assisted by then little known Laxmikant Pyarelal are highlights of the film.

Most people agree that Van Shipley was the first electric guitarist in India and the first to record instrumental versions of film songs beginning sometime in the early 1950s. The name Van Shipley is Methodist, he is from Lucknow UP. He designed his own electric eight string steel guitar in the 1940's. The reason he did this was that he'd studied Indian classical music under Ustad Alaudin Khan, the leading classical musician in India, who was also a contemporary of Ravi Shankar. He also studied the violin with a German teacher. This Western style influence is what compelled Van Shipley to design his own electric violin as well. He owned a Gibson E5, given to him as a gift over 50yrs ago. That's why he wanted to play Indian classical music on guitar. He wanted to hear a particular the drone, so he made an eight string guitar, instead of a five string. His guitar was a solid guitar, designed to his style at the time, it was futuristic. He listened to all types of music and played Indian classic on Western instruments.

Van Shipley was based in Bombay with his wife and family but sadly, he passed away at the age of 78 on the morning of the 8th of March 2008 in his home. His daughter Ingrid is an artist and musician who lives in New York, and his nephew Valentine is a singer/songwriter in India.

Minoo is a tremendous Ghazal artist of her own style.Her melodious voice has attracted lovers of music.

Caravan is a 1971 movie under Nasir Hussain films banner. Nasir Hussain and Sachin Bhowmick wrote the screenplay. Hussain's brother Tahir Hussain is credited as producer. It starred Jeetendra and the Nasir Husain fixture- Asha Parekh. It also had Aruna Irani , Helen and Madan Puri. Two more Husain fixtures were involved in the songs: lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri and music composer R.D. Burman. The film was a hit at the box office.
